We need lots of friends to transform the historic elevated Reading Viaduct and City Branch rail cut of the former Philadelphia and Reading Railroad into The Rail Park. The 3-mile park and recreation area will connect several residential neighborhoods — Chinatown, Callowhill, Logan Square, Fairmount — with Fairmount Park.

Here's what your Friendship will mean:

  • You’ll leave a legacy for generations to come. How cool is that?
  • You’ll send a signal to policy makers and funders that we really want this elevated park to happen. Just imagine it: 3 miles of gardens, walk-ways, seating areas, and a bike path. Plus great views and a new way of seeing our City.

  • You’ll support our organization’s work advocating for the Rail Park and championing the needs of all Philadelphians through the design and construction processes.

  • You’ll help us keep the Rail Park sparkling clean, with beautiful gardens and interesting art. Plus programs that connect all of us to the park and its history.

Here are the benefits of our founding membership program that we’ll build and expand over time.

  • Receive our new quarterly newsletter.
  • Receive priority notice of events and tours.
  • Receive one complimentary tour per year.
  • Receive a keepsake Friends of the Rail Park pin.
  • Receive deep satisfaction and pride knowing that as a Friend of the Rail Park, you’re helping to create a 3-mile park.

Would you like to be our friend?

Your gift to Friends of the Rail Park will help bring the Rail Park to life. The designs for the first quarter-mile section of the Rail Park are complete, and construction is slated to begin in 2015. Make a tax-deductible donation today to help us break ground on Phase 1 of the park and to support our ongoing efforts towards building a three-mile park and recreation path through center city Philadelphia. Click here to donate online.

If you wish to make a donation by mail, checks can be made payable to Friends of the Rail Park and sent, along with your contact information, to the following address: Friends of the Rail Park, 340 N 12th St. Suite 419, Philadelphia, PA 19107.
