If there is one thing Philadelphians love [after sports, of course], it’s a good block party. To celebrate Phase 1 of the Rail Park, we thought why not just go with it, and put on the block party of block parties? You are officially invited to join us September 14th at the Rally for the Rail Park, a fundraiser in support of [and adjacent to] the quarter-mile portion of the former railway spanning from Broad Street at Noble, rising up to the elevated Viaduct, and extending to Callowhill Street.

This first phase section, reimagined through a design process spearheaded by Center City District [CCD] and the Callowhill Neighborhood Association [CNA], is slated for construction in 2014. While CCD is working towards raising capital funds for construction, CNA and Friends of the Rail Park are leading fundraising efforts to maintain and sustain Phase 1 of the future park.

5:00 PM - 11:00 PM
1200 Block of Noble Street, adjacent to the Viaduct

Over the past few months, Friends of the Rail Park and Callowhill Neighborhood Association, along with the help of neighbors and friends, have been organizing the Rally, which will feature live dance and theater performances organized as part of the Philadelphia Fringe Festival [including fire dancing daredevils Lux Arati and sketch comedy troupe The Waitstaff], beer from Yards, a food truck corral [featuring Taco Mondo, Yumtown, and Sweetbox Cupcakes], multimedia installations courtesy of Animated Architecture, and tunes provided by DJ Lucky 7. Pasquarello’s Thirteenth Street Kitchens [the good people behind Café Lift, Prohibition Taproom and Bufad] will be putting on a pig roast and serving up all kinds of good stuff for attendees of the “Sunset Dinner for Supporters.” This will be followed by an “After-Party for Friends.” We could go on, but you should be convinced by now that you should round up your friends and grab tickets before they sell out. Hey--the Rail Park is happening! Let's party!
